Mexican Money

Do not accept torn or damaged pesos bills while on Vacation in Cancun. Mexican money in Cancun damaged in any way will not be accepted by any merchants, money exchanges or banks. If somebody offers you a damaged bill, refuse to accept it. Give it back and politely say "eso no sierve".

ATMs dispense money in pesos and receipts are in pesos and some will dispense money in Dollars in Cancun or Canadian Dollars in Cancun.

It is advisable to carry lots of small bills and change because merchants never have change and they will look at you as if it's your problem to go get some change.

You also should carry local money in Cancun in pesos and not your national currency while on your Vacation in Cancun.

Contrary to popular belief you will usually get the best deal while using Mexican Pesos. All prices are in pesos, 50 pesos and 5 dollars in Cancun are not the same at all!
